Is my old design ISIC still valid?
The old ITIC design is still in circulation, and is slowly being replaced by new
design cards. Both designs are valid and accepted, until the validity date is expired.
Why has the card been redesigned?
The world has changed and the ISIC needs to change with it. The increased number of ISIC cards which are cobranded
with other cards and the need for a more dynamic and contemporary look were just
a few of the reasons to adapt the ISIC design.

Is my old design ISIC still valid?
The old design ISIC is still in circulation, and is slowly being replaced by new

card validity as printed on the card has not expired.

A respected organisation
The ISIC Association launched the ISIC more than 50 years ago. Today the card is
the only internationally accepted proof of full-time status, endorsed by ministries,
governments, student unions and non governmental organisations such as UNESCO and
the Community of Andean Nations.
Online verification of student status
All ISIC cards have their unique serial number registered in a central database.
Partnering with the ISIC Association will allow you provide students with an online
benefit accessible only to them by entering their unique serial number.
UNESCO endorsment
UNESCO endorses the ISIC and recognizes it as an unique document for student travel
and cultural exchange, as well an official internationally recognized proof
of student status. The ISIC Association maintaines a close relationship
with UNESCO and together they promote student travel, cultural exchange and international
understanding.

To show the close relationship between the ISIC Association and UNESCO, the UNESCO
logo is printed on all standard ISIC cards.
ISIC serial number
All ITIC cards have an unique serial number. Benefit partners can
the card validity against the central cardholder database.
Various Languages
All travellers should set off on a journey prepared with good travel insurance and
information on how to get emergency help any time, anywhere. If you are an ISIC
or ITIC holder one of the benefits offered by the cards is access to a 24-hour ISIC
Emergency Help Line. In case of an emergency, you can call the ISIC Emergency Help
Line free of charge and speak to an operator who will refer you to legal, medical
or travel advisors, depending on your situation. All information is available in
various languages.
Emergency Legal Advice
ISIC Emergency Help Line operators can locate your nearest embassy or consulate,
and refer you to a local lawyer.
Emergency Medical Advice
ISIC Emergency Help Line operators can refer you to a qualified doctor in the country
you are visiting. If a particular medication is unavailable, arrangements can be
made to have prescribed drugs or medication sent to you. Qualified doctors are available
to give medical advice over the phone.
